Why Religion When There Is Football?
I watched football and I have some observations I want to make,and honestly I won’t be wrong if I say i prefer football to religion.
At the viewing centre today,I was closely sitting with people of different tribes and different religions, but just for one Same course, our interest were for Nigeria to win.
We laughed,we sigh and shout together when neccassary.
No one dare remember I am a Tiv, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba,idoma or whatever,we were all concerned that Nigeria should win.
We also left our religion aside and aligned as one, for the interest of Nigerias’ victory.
No one dare think I am a Christian or Muslim and so on,our interest were solely on the game and our victory over South Africa.
Seen the excitement in the face of each individual,I said to myself;
SEE HOW FOOTBALL UNITE US,BUT WHY DO RELIGION AND ETHNICITY DIVIDE US SO MUCH?
Is it not religion that ought to unite us as these? Are we not serving the same God?
I come to understand that, religion and ethnicity has really done bad for us rather than good.
If we can unite as we always do in football there will be peace, there will be development, there will be love.
Football is really bringing people together why religion and ethnicity is tearing us apart.
Why can’t we realise this and unite in all ramifications as we always do in football,I will always choose football over religion if we can’t unite as we do in football.
