THE GIANT PEN PICTURE PROMPT
BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION
Greed swallowed honesty,
Dishonesty now conspicuously hidden;
Hidden but dressed with currencies,
Currencies exchange hands in secret at daylight.
Just like mothers birth, handshakes are birthed.
Birthed on our barren lands
The death traps we call roads
Which gives us a brush of death;
For the notes we paid to our fatherland
Are shared by our greedy leaders.
Leaders of morrow, the youths’ bribe;
But in agbada, billions of dreams;
Billions of projects in the protruded belly.
And into ruins, they push our country
As life becomes as hard as diamond.
Diamonds of no sparks even at nights.
The grass are trodden upon by Elephants as helpless prey
That wreath in the reality of death
Stinging the skin to form oceans
That wet the ground during his last prayers.
Prayers with bribe can run faster than the wind,
But lightning has danced across the sky,
Here I am skinny like a tooth pick,
They thought I was a good shepherd,
Now the bitter truth has been exposed.
Exposed to notes that forget to rule out being biased
Avaricious and egoistic but get us harassed
Wail for money but forget not they rule
We await the day they will be mesmerized
Mesmerized as the syntax of life loses taste,
Plagued in one-corner, giveaway underneath,
Seen in the semantics of our becomings,
Haunt our joy every morning,
Locking down citizens, locking down our incomes
Incomes of the nation threatened like a dark cloud
With an exchange of justice face,
For an envelope of disgrace,
Trampling the law courts,
As your choices of wine that is diluted.
Diluted behind the sacred table, looking green
To refresh the ego of my mind
As sparkling ashes on suit.
Dependents of corruption expel bribery from freedom;
Like a disease leading to rough boredom.
Boredom meant to give hope carries grieve in it
Drums with lots of holes and
Spices of livelihoods are leaked out.
Up until their skins are sore.
Sores that makes the city a sleepy hollow
Treasures are shallow and looted
By the ruling suits and agbadas.
Do you need anything from me?
Just protrude my hands as pregnancy protrudes.
