A MESSAGE TO EVE
Oh mother Eve,
You were the Princess of Eden,
The queen of the garden,
A beauty to behold.
Who beheld you?
Adam’s loving eyes,
Longingly he gazed;
And you became his downfall
For he heeded your seductive call.
You gifted me pain oh mother
A bitter sweet pain like no other.
The pain encapsulated in womanhood,
An agonizing and excruciating pain.
Where and what is the gain?
In my mind’s eye I see Eden,
The mountains watched the sky,
The sky watched the river,
The river fed the flowers,
You basked in Eden’s beauty mother.
In Eden there was purity
And no mention was made of vanity.
Your heart deceived you,
Your eyes betrayed you,
Your hands murdered you,
Your feet foretold your burial.
I wish you left not calling me
But you gave birth to many mothers
And Your womb fed many fathers.
Alas! Earth is saturated,
Behold I was born,
The evil has been done.
I cannot tell all my eyes have seen,
To live, I’m no more keen.
Oh let your ears hear me;
Mother Eve, you did me wrong!
I see sons oppressed of mothers,
I see fathers in their daughters’ hurt.
Women follow the path you trialed;
Families are broken,
Money becomes food,
Bad took another form
And Good changed its course.
Oh Eve I condemn you
But before I do,
I must be different.
As an integrity keeper I must not relent,
I raise my voice against a mother,
For instead of joy, she gifted sorrow.
Daily I appeal to heavens,
Save me from the claws of mother Eve’s consequential deeds.
Dear Heaven, Dear Maker
Give me a strong heart
To be faithful forever.
My heart is heavy,
Guide me, lead me
Never to be like mother Eve.
A LETTER TO ADAM
And word made all statuesque_
You were the father of all_
And in your words were names created
You were among the creators.
But the rib of your ribs took another drift
And the plan of heavens changed.
The helper at your care
Did thirst for new taste
And thus, you are implicated.
Why would you no fess and be free_
Why allow sweet words overtook you?
I am now a no main poet_
For your deeds never won God’s heart.
Oh Adam! You lost the face_
The face of goodness.
Thus, maidens of earth are in chaos_
God’s plan is wrecked_
We are now in the state of dilemma_
Mother runs from duty
And leaves the children to fate.
All are turned to commotion_
Since the day you tasted wisdom.
Pains became a song_
Forever with our mouths ajar.
Shall I speak more of your flaws_
You gave room for discord
And the seed thereof spelt doom.
Oh! That time can go back_
To default Adam and Eve_
Just as God left them in Eden.
Woe unto the serpent
Whose conviction was a made a sin_
Let me curse not this day for your sake_
But seek to avert the seed you planted.
So help me God.
I stand at bay watching_
Learning the language of my ink_
Learning how to handle my pen.
