BLACKS (A POEM WRITTEN BY DANIEL OYIBO)

*BLACKS*

Black man black sense they descry,
A burden of no option our lot,
The faithful tortoise they proclaim us,
How wrong they are,

Blacks we are,
As rich as croesus we are,
In morality, in philosophy,
Encompassed with centuries-old culture,
Folklore passed down for generations,
Describing our ancestral bravery,
A closet of dazzling attires,
Reflecting our proficiency in embroidery,

Yes!
Enough melanin our skin has been flooded with,
Like the Augeas’s ranch,
Our brain still intact with its essence,
Intellectually we come second to no race,
Always grabbing every opportunity that comes our way.

Yes, negro we are,
As proud as peacock in uniform we are to be
Busy as a beaver on his Atlantic crossing,We are pioneers
After us the west follow,
Retarded we may be now,
With tenacity like the eagle,
We will be in our rightful place!
We are blacks, we are Africans,
Black is beauty.
