THE RIVER BOY (A POEM WRITTEN BY ODINAKA CHRISTIAN)

THE RIVER BOY

At the river bank _
Chitchat a shrill songbird ,
Not in meute ; but at Meuse
the bird sips .
So belle and gem the river is .
O who thinks of leaving such a sugar bower !

But the sudden sound of horror ;
With sharp shrilly whistle in terror ,
Cackling at the cardinal point of my chaos .
So threnody and dirge hover in us ,
Riving live with joy fool woes ,-
That sell thousands head in trend of no return .

Scream and setting on the fence ;
From my eyes the river flows
Like Pishon and Gihon of Eden .
I’d stay and grasp my grieve till end ,
Or fly with the songbird to an unknown garden?
O ,ah wish you dry off ; the cascades on my face
