BRUTALITY IN WOMANHOOD (A POEM WRITTEN BY ESTHER EMMANUEL

BRUTALITY IN WOMANHOOD

Mark thick Like woods,
Ugly and attractive
Life screeched out
Dark stripes;
Side Ways, up down
Human with balls on the chest turned into a shoe rag
Beating hard like drums
Men with balls in-between the legs
Refrained from beats
Men balless act like wrestlers in their bedroom

Pots are hit to the face,
Valueless they appeared before men
Born from their flesh with suffering
Mankind has called us ordinary
But yes originality runs the lineage of womanhood
Our temple difiled with Pharaoh’s sword
Our worth are stored on our face,
Giving no space for Beauty to surface
Baboons you called us
Living inside bamboo
Nights fall;they penetrate inside troops of solider ants into our kingdom
We lost our freedom

We know!
Thy rib formed us
A vessel of supportive liquid we got
Brutality has been the preamble in their thought
Mankind summoned us has weakness
Hold on!
Two hundred and seventeen nine days of carrying a load non stop
Proved the strong spirit inculcated inside
Womanhood polluted with brutality
Women of prestige
Arise and speak like queen Esther
Traits of Mary in our blood
Stop the beating
Stop the pains inflicted
We are bold,
We hold the keys to every men’s heart
Shed no tears woman,
We stand has a symbol in the nation.
