WHAT KOREAN MOVIES TAUGHT ME.
WRITTEN BY JUDAISKY
It’s so prevalent Korean movies are everywhere and being watched by youths every second, every minute and every hour but carefully and meticulously have I taken my time to juxtapose this movies. What they teach and what I gained so far.
There are many things I learnt from Korean movies which I believe you would have noticed too if you are very observant and not after the fun alone.
There are many people that spend all the day watching movie but they can’t learn a single moral let alone applying it in everything they do and so, I am going to take my time and relay what Korean movie taught me.
1. DECENT DRESSING: looking at all the movies we watch this time, you would believe with me that Korean movies especially the village settings are the best in term of dressing.
Not that they don’t have prostitutes or practice prostitution there but in their movies even in the roles of prostitution, they always dress well…
But here in my country, well, don’t let me even say anything because you already known the answer.
How lovely will it be if we dress very well.
Cover our body and keep it neat.
Some people even stripe or act nude for money… But why?
Where Is your shame, dignity and prestige?
This is one thing Korean movies taught me which I promised to adhere to.
There was even a Nigerian movie I saw where every female there were naked, the movie was set somewhere in a village but tell me, it that not madness?
I wonder why we even take pleasure in such things.
If you are an actress somewhere, just know that going nude or wearing Sexy killing dresses can’t make you the celebrity you want but it will degrade your dignity and pride.
It Will bring down your respect for responsible men or who wants to marry a slot and irresponsible woman?
Ask yourself this question.
How will you feel if your mum, Dad, brothers, sisters, relatives or anyone close fellow sees you naked in the screen in the name of acting. How will you feel hence you know you can’t even undress in their presence.
This is an advice we have to stick to.
Watch what you wear.
2. RESPECT. I so much like the way they pay their homage and respect to one another, especially elders.
Yoruba indegines are very good at that but their is one of their proverbs that said. “ikunle kíi ṣe ìwà” Which means prostration or kneeling down isn’t character/attitude.
The worst of all is even how we youths in Yoruba land greet elders.
I have been very observant of this.
They only bend down, touch their kneels like they want to pick something then say ‘EEEE’ it’s not funny because that’s all you will get to hear if you really listen.
This is a bad habit. If you can’t greet properly then don’t greet at all cos some elders might look into it and decided to punish you for that.
How wonderful will it be if we repent today and start respecting our elders and those it’s due to.
They say respect is reciprocal and I so much believe that.
You can’t sow one seed and read another.
It’s what you do now you will meet in future.
Respect is golden so as honesty and humility.
This thing came to me when I saw a little boy talking to an elderly man like he was his mate or even junior brother.
It ached my heart and even sent me wondering if the fault is from us or from our respective parents.
Lets change regardless of who’s at fault.
3 FORESIGHT AND CLAIRVOYANCE.
This is another thing I also learnt from Korean movie.
Before you make a move, they already known or planning ahead of you.
This is more or less like the game of chess.
They already known you would make a move, excepting your move or planning ahead of you.
How do you feel it, planning ahead of everything. You already known the kind of government and country we are so, if you plan well, you won’t be among those that are crying of bad government and unemployment.
If you aren’t myopic to everything, you won’t have anything to regret or suffer
If you plan even ahead of time.
Some people don’t even have dreams let alone working or planning towards that.
It’s high time we woke up from slumber and face reality.
How long will you sleep while others are working and counting money everyday?
How long will you sleep while others are building houses and changing cars like cloth.
Think about it and turn a new leaf.
Since I started watching Korean movies, I always take note of this.
Look at FLOWER IN THE GARDEN, RULER MASK MASTER, JOSEON GUNMAN, SWALLOW THE SUN, THE SUN THAT EMBRACE THE MOON, SHINE OR GO CRAZY and many more. You would understand what I am saying.
They all persevered knowing what they are after is golden and the result is priceless.
They gave it all it took to get to the Crest and summit.
Assuming we take this serious and personal, we won’t have any reason to lament over anything because “those that wait upon their Lord shall their strength be renewed”.
Rome wasn’t built in a day so you don’t have to give up because things aren’t working out the way you planned.
In fact, this is one of the things that makes you a man..
When you are able to improvise in every thing, then you can swim freely in every situation you find yourself.
5. JOVIALITY AND CHEERFULNESS.
Another thing Korean movies taught me is joviality and cheerfulness.
Though we suffer day and night.
We are being brutalized by many things which you don’t even know their routes.
We face the wrath of the day and that of night without even knowing who is at fault.
But all this challenges aren’t enough reason for us to pattern our faces like fried puff puff.
I nearly fell in love with one girl because she smiles a lot and it beautifies her face. Her dimples alone when she smiles will give you a resounding inspiration. (Abeg no tell anyone oo)
That’s one of the power of being cheerful.
When you are cheerful, you will receive many help you didn’t even merit.
Your smiles and cheerful face can help those that are weary in heart which you may not know.
Joviality is another thing that’s very vital and paramount.
It’s very indispensable to the extent that you can’t be cheerful without being jovial.
That’s the reasons why you have to acquire the both.
Look carefully in your environment, you would see that those that always smile are very beautiful and handsome and those that always frown like leftover of Semo or Fufu. Are just like the family of apes
Let’s try and change, it’s for our own good.
I believe if you can live all these your lives like this, the world will be a better place.
Till our paths Cross again,
I hand my pen_
