TWO SONGS OF HOPE ON YOUR BIRTHDAY
(1)
Many miles you have gone
Yet the mines lie afar;
Still strong the bull’s horns
Smooth and fine as agar

Let’s give Lot’s wife her lot:
The day before was king of nights
Who lived in a little hut
And with black sword,
Fought your white might

Tomorrow still has many stars
And now,you must wear no soul
But let sap wed rags
In thy heart’s fires,
To hold the sickle

Beyond thy eyes,
Cherubs bid for truth
And Babylon tell of the years of dung
But let time play the flute
If ever eternity will give her tongue!

(2)
Then you will suck the earth’s breast
And soar to victory’s crest
There shall be laughter of flowers
Upon the brow of your ancestors’ sepulchres

And wearing hope vest
You will reap sweet harvest
In green fields of chirping birds
Which perch on lilies bed

There! Soldiers washing their sores
On silver-clayed shores
Oh souls singing hossanahs in beautiful green Savannahs!

Like a virgin lily bloom
Your dreams will ever bloom
Above this belching gloom
Which sweeps into doom
The beauty of nature’s groom

The bell is tolling
Time’s wheel is rolling
The knell is chiming
A change in timing
The sheep is bleating
Thy heart is beating
The sky is miming
Nature’s gold miming
Your night is dead
Upon the day’s bed!

See! The dance of snowflakes
Upon tomorrow’s blissful lakes!
Rejoice!!
Happy birthday,Joseph
