THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL BY E. A. ADEBAYO

THERE’S A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL
Though, alone I struggle with my thoughts,
In summer, winter, autumn and spring,
Seeking for a companion to whom I might speak,
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Though, on the way to the valley of ore,
In the dark, I slipped and fell,
Deprived of light and all of care,
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Though, alone I sleep with my fears on,
When the human folk is all but dead,
And in my silk coat, I wrapped my head,
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Though, at dawn and even at dusk,
Hungry and tattered, and all I seek is help,
And I wish this were my end,
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Though, friends to foes turn,
And life seems to frown,
And neighbours let me down,
There’s a light at the end of the tunnel.
